Every Aspect Gives Away More than 2,000 Free Tickets to Students and Community Organizations to Attend Small Change Expo

Every Aspect Management, a new Victoria based social enterprise is demonstrating leadership and a commitment to increasing financial literacy by planning the first community event of its kind in Canada. The Small Change Personal Finance Expo on March 9th and 10th, 2012 at the Victoria Conference Centre is a two-day event designed to demonstrate how saving  'small change' and making 'small change' in lifestyle choices can result in improved long-term financial sustainability.

In keeping with recommendations by the Federal Government's Task Force on Financial Literacy, Every Aspect is seeking to make the Small Change Personal Finance Expo as accessible as possible to those at the greatest financial risk - low and middle income individuals and families. To that end, they will be giving away more than 2,000 free tickets to this event, through community organizations and educational institutions. In fact, the Small Change Expo kicks off the event with a free workshop by Murray Baker, author of the Debt Free Graduate, for close to 400 Victoria School District students in an effort to help them mitigate debt while pursuing their post-secondary educations.

General admission includes workshops by the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada, British Columbia Securities Commission, Consumer Protection BC, Credit Counselling Society and others, as well as an exhibit expo. Other highlights include presentations by money mavens, "The Smart Cookies" and Murray Baker on the evening of March 9th.

Every Aspect recognizes that one of the primary barriers to saving and debt reduction is people's difficulty in finding the extra money to apply to those causes. So, in addition to raising awareness about financial services, Small Change will focus on helping attendees make smart consuming decisions that help them live within their means. "It doesn't have to be hard. Reallocating as little as an extra $1 per day from spending to savings can make a big difference in the long-term. All it takes is the willingness to make small change and save small change." says Lesley Patten, Every Aspect CEO.

Every Aspect is relying on the participation of government agencies, the financial service industry, businesses and educational institutions to make this important event happen. "This event is of crucial importance to our community. We call upon them to work together and invest in participation so we can give British Columbians the tangible skills they need to better manage their money and work toward ending the cycles of poverty." says Kathryn Dafos, senior event manager.
